ASHLEY FURNITURE WILL NOT HONOR THEIR OWN WARRANTY KEPT TELLING ME TO CALL STAIN SAFE WHO I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THRU, BUT STAIN SAFE  KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THEY ONLY WARRANTY THE EXTERIOR OF THE CHAIR.  I AM GETTING REAL TIRED OF GOING BACK AND FORCE AND NOT GETTING ANY SATISFACTION FROM EITHER COMPANY. REALLY HORRIBLE FOLLOW THRU ON THE WARRANTY.  THE RECLINER WE PURCHASED HAS A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY ON THE MECHANISM, BUT, SINCE IT IS DISCONTINUED THEY JUST CAN'T HELP US, AND ARE REFUSING TO HONOR THEIR OWN WARRANTY.  STAIN SAFE IS NOT VERY HELPFUL,
EXPECT VERY VERY LONG WAIT TIMES ON HOLD.  AND DEFFINITELY NOT HELPFUL PEOPLE ON THE PHONE. TELLING YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO CALL THE OTHER GUY.

CALLED ASHLEY, CASSEY SAID SHE WOULD HAVE TO CALL ME BACK BECAUSE SHE HAD NEVER ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WHERE THE ITEM WAS DISCONTINUED AND NEEDED A NEW MECHANISM.  SHE CALLED BACK. SAID I WOULD JUST HAVE TO CALL STAIN SAFE, I PROTESTED AND SAID THAT I HAD ALREADY GONE THRU ALL THAT, I GOT A CLAIM NUMBER FROM STAIN SAFE AND STAIN SAFE SAID THEY DON'T COVER MECHANISM, SHE PUT ME ON HOLD, A VERY LONG TIME, AND CAME BACK AND SAID THAT HER SUPERVISOR SAID THAT QUOTE  " STAIN SAFE WILL JUST HAVE TO MAKE IT RIGHT FOR YOU."  UNQUOTE, WHEN ASHLEY KNOWS GOOD DARN AND WELL THEY DONT COVER MECHANISMS, I CALLED FREAKING STAIN SAFE BACK, AND EXPLAINED, SHE INFORMED ME THAT THEY STILL DON'T COVER MECHANISMS, BUT THAT ASHLEY ALSO HAD A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE FRAME.  

OK, NOW I GOT JESSICA WITH ASHLEY FURNITURE ON THE PHONE, TOLD HER DON'T SEND ME BACK TO STAIN SAFE, SHE SAID SHE CAN SEND A TECHNICIAN OUT, BUT, SINCE THE CHAIR IS (2) YEARS OLD, SHE WILL HAVE TO CHARGE ME $79.00 PER HOUR TO REPAIR THE CHAIR. WELL THE CHAIR WAS ORIGINALLY $400.00, SO, I ASKED HER IF SHE COULD JUST ORDER THE PART, AND I WOULD COME AND PICK IT UP, SO, SHE PUT ME ON HOLD, FOR A VERY LONG TIME. OK, SHE IS GOING TO CALL ME BACK, SHE IS GOING TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER, WHO IS MANUFACTURER ASHLEY INDUSTRIES, OH, ASHLEY HOME STORES... SHE SAID SHE WOULD GET THIS RESOLVED, HMMM...

Recliner Mechanisms

5 Year Limited Warranty
Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. warrants to you, the original retail purchaser, all mechanisms used in recliners for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase, to be free from material or manufacturing defects. Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. will pay, within one year from the date of purchase, reasonable and customary labor rates to repair or replace the defective parts and shipping costs from the retailer to and from Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., or a repair center designated by the Customer Service Department of Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., at no charge to the original purchaser. After one year from the date of purchase, the reclining mechanism warranty covers replacement parts only, and the purchaser will be responsible for labor, packing, and all shipping and transportation costs.


WELP, STILL NO CALL BACK, GO FIGURE. AND ACCORDING TO MY WIFE, THEY SAID IF ANYTHING HAPPENS IN THE FIVE YEAR PERIOD, THAT IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF.  WELL, THEY ARE NOT TAKING CARE OF IT. WE NEVER EVEN RECEIVED AN INVOICE.  WE ONLY HAVE THE ASHLEY FURNITURE HOME STORE SKU CHECK OUT SHEET THING.  AT THIS POINT I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME THAT THEY CAN'T GET THE PART SINCE IT IS DISCONTINUED. SO, THEY CAN'T HONOR THEIR FIVE YEAR WARRANTY.  ACCORDING TO MY WIFE, WHO HAS A MEMORY LIKE AN ELEPHANT,  SAID THAT ACCORDING TO SOME INFORMATION SHE READ IN ONE OF ASHLEY'S PAMPHLET, IF ASHLEY CAN'T FIX AN ITEM UNDER WARRANTY, THEY HAVE TO GIVE YOU AN IN STORE CREDIT.  SO, WE WILL BE MAKING A TRIP TO ASHLEY SOON, TO SEE IF WE CAN GET ONE OF THOSE PAMPHLETS.

WE GOT ONE OF THOSE PAMPHLETS, WITH IN 5 YEARS, IT SAYS REPAIR OR REPLACE AT IT'S OPTIONS. THEY ARE NOT REPLACING ANY THING, COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL

DATE: 03-13-2006 TALKED TO ROSE, SHE TRIED TO SEND ME TO STAINSAFE, I SAID, DON'T EVEN GO THERE.  THEY FINALLY SAID THAT I CAN GET THE PART.  I WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE ASHLEY FURNITURE STORE AND ORDER IT.  ABOUT $15.00 FOR THE PART AND $10.00 FOR SHIPPING.  UNFORTUNATELY,  I COULD NOT JUST ORDER IT OVER THE PHONE.

04-03-2006  Welp, we have not made it by the ASHLEY FURNITURE STORE yet.  And the Durapela Recliner Chair is still broken.  I guesse it "our" fault that the chair is broken.  At least that is what ASHELY FURNITURE STORE made it seem like.  The little release handle just came off in my wife hand one evening...  And now all of this crap.  You better pray that your furniture from the ASHLEY FURNITURE STORE never breaks.  Even under warranty, you can't get it fixed.  That is because I conjecture that they want you to come back and buy some more furniture.  Our furniture is less than two years old and is falling apart.  Well, I conjecture that is because it was made in CHINA or VIETNAM or TIAWAN.  If you want good furniture, you should buy AMERICAN!~  I got screwed~
